June 2021

There were some BIG moments in June for Stella and Claire this year!

Their First Tumbling Recital was so much fun!  The girls really enjoyed this class and are looking forward to doing it again next year.

SLC Middle School Virtual Awards Ceremony:

Stella has been such a responsible and well-rounded student throughout the pandemic.  While only being able to be in-person two days a week, on remote learning days she would get up every morning and go through her online classroom assignments in the same order she would at school, and spend the rest of the day trying to incorporate some hobbies, such as arts and crafts, piano, baking, or sewing along with frivolous screen time!  Her focus on her work first paid off! Stella earned the following honors:

Outstanding Achievement in ELA

Excellence in Math Enrichment

Outstanding Achievement in Science

Outstanding Achievement in Social Studies

Outstanding Achievement in Band

Stella also was given the opportunity to participate in NYSSMA this year.  She submitted a virtual percussion audition and scored 27 out of 28 points!

Outstanding Achievement in Physical Education

Honorable Mention in Art and artwork featured in the 2021 Virtual Tri-County Art Show

Stella was also recognized for three consecutive terms on Honor Roll and 1st place GPA of 98.7.  We are so proud of our girl!

SLC 4th Grade Moving Up Ceremony:

Claire's event was a Facebook live, although we waited and watched the ceremony together as a family.  Claire was fortunate enough to be able to have in-person learning 4 days a week and has also worked hard this year!  Claire earned the Sense of Accomplishment Award, Excellence in Art Award, and a certificate of Achievement given to all 4th grades students from Senator Daniel Stec.  Claire-Bear also received an Outstanding Academic Excellence Award through the United State's President's Education Awards Program.  We are so proud of Claire and are excited for her to "move-up" to Middle School this fall!

Other June happenings:

Summer Sunset Run #1, where you are at!

Playground fun during one of
Claire's softball games

Dining Out with Dad!

Making a Beach themed cake for
Trey's "passing over" day

Outdoor Play with Girl Scouts

Cleaning Off Lockers at School!

Claire-Bear decided to cut her hair short!

Nothing beats snuggles with Dad!

Gifts to and from the 5th Grade Teachers
These were made from old white boards being
thrown away at school.  I think inspired by the
new recycling club "Trash Busters" in which Stella is the VP!

May 2021

This month our Girl Scout troop got together for some badge work.  It's been a long time since we've been able to come together as a group so it was nice to see everyone back together!  Stella and Claire's group worked on a "Social Butterfly" badge and learned about table settings and etiquette.  They also learned about parts of flowers and growing plants for another badge.

Other highlights this month:
Honoring Miss Caramia for her
birthday and teacher appreciation week!

The pandemic has created new opportunities for utilizing technology and the Girls Scouts of the USA have tried to continue to involve young girls despite not being able to gather together.  The spring as part of an enrollment campaign they featured a live event with Michelle Obama themed 'Becoming Me' that we signed up for.

Fun with playdough at children's church!

Quick dip in the pool!
