Snowy Smiles

Although we were really ready for spring we had another snow fall this past week.  On the way to school Stella said "I love playing outside in the snow but I've had enough of it!".  Daddy had to spend some time in VT this week to take our Mini Cooper to the dealer.  We missed him lots so I snapped this shot as I was dropping the girls off at school to send him some smiles.

This week the girls both started music lessons.  Stella is learning how to play the piano, and Claire is trying out guitar.  They are both super excited about it.

At Children's Church today we discovered the Easter story with play-do covered Resurrection eggs.  The girls enjoyed them so much they played with them most of the afternoon.  Their generation has a fascination with surprises inside eggs like I've never known before so I wasn't a bit surprised they liked them so much.

Final Four

The Golden Bears boys basketball team advanced to the state tournament and we were so excited for them, particularly the Porter family whom we know and love.  On Saturday, the girls had a sleep over at Grammie and Pa's while we headed to Binghamton to see the championship game.  Sadly, the Bears did not win but they worked hard and made history for CHS.  We appreciated this opportunity to have an overnight away too! #goldenbearpride

In other news this week, Mom and Sabrina participated in the Here and Now Women's retreat over the weekend.  Since Adam had a soccer tournament, the Britton girls came over to play Saturday morning.  They were over the moon to be together, as usual.  They made rolled sugar cookies and played and had lots of fun!

Thursday the girls had a sleepover at Grammie and Pa's (twice in one week was a real treat!) because they didn't have school Friday due to Superintendent's day, but daddy did.  They had a great day playing with Grandpa and Cousin Logan.  Claire did some reading to Papa and it's such a joy for all of us to see her doing so well learning this skill.

Winter Storm Stella of 2017 hit the North East!  We were just covered in snow this week.  The girls had two days off from school, the entire state was under a state of emergency, our county had a travel advisory issued, and for the first time ever in my career at SUNY our Governor dismissed us from our duties early, at 3pm on Tuesday afternoon - although all of downstate was told not to report to work at all!  Here are some pics of our driveway.  The girls are getting inpatient for spring to arrive but had a great time playing in all of the freshly fallen snow.

Small Town Pride

We are fortunate to live in a small town with big personality!  I joke now that ever since Dollar General opened, you never need to leave Brasher Falls!  But it's no joke that we have some talented folks who care about our community - the families living here, and the quality of life for our kids and grown-ups alike.  This weekend we took the girls to see the school musical 'Anne of Green Gables'.  It was a nice treat.  And although we aren't a hockey family, it was pretty neat to read on facebook that our boys hockey team has earned a spot in the final four teams of the state tournament.

Other news this week - we enjoyed a fellowship meal with some of our church family Friday night, the girls had fun at gymnastics (daddy brought his own chair to wait around in comfort), went ice skating Saturday afternoon, have admired the stair parts and molding Daddy has been painting, as well as our new bathroom remodel (which Claire hung out in the first day it was put together), and AWANA started up again after mid-winter break.  Claire has been asking about when we could go back and was really looking forward to it!

Another cold snap is upon us but we are all hopeful this will be the last one and that spring is just around the corner!
